This really is a hard question, and there were many aspects to the creation of Israel.
But i tend to lean in the direction that it wasn't a good idea. It was not there territory at the time, it was taken from others. So of course the others are going to be pissed, and i don't think they are all that wrong to be upset from there perspective, we forgot that there is always 2 sides to a story. But the way things have turned and the way that they express there anger is not acceptable. And I really can't blame the isralies now for defending themselfs.
So it really is a tricky thing, and i think it was only the circumstances from WW2, holocost, that allowed the Israel state to be created in such a way without strong opposition.
not their territory? hell it was taken from them in the first place...
many jews continued to live in Palestine even after it was taken over
when they began to return they did not go to farms and just kick the Palestinians off the land they bought mostly unused land from absentee landlords...
Although the Jews got more of Palestine percentage wise than people would have you believe they derserved based on their population, They were a majority in the area made into Israel. Most of the land the Israeli's had was the Negev which is very sparsley populated and distorts the figures to make it look like the Israelis got more of Palestine than they deserved.
What would you have done in 1947 instead of creating Israel?
would you deport all the jews? if it was one state they would have been killed by the palestinians. The only options really were
1) Jewish areas become Israel, Arab areas become Palestine
2) Remove all jews from Palestine
3)Let the Palestinian Jews be killed
