Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD Review

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix released in time for the gift giving season (how convenient) didn’t satisfy my palette as an avid movie watcher. It left me with raised eyebrows and a disappointed feeling inside. The movie, somehow, seemed incomplete – perhaps because I spent the duration of the movie patiently waiting for a war of wizards and witches that never came. I know that this is just one movie in a series, with more to come, but come on, they could have at least given the viewers one splendid war of magic at the end of the movie! At least then the movie would have been worth waiting to see through to the end.

The lack of magic throughout the movie didn’t help matters, nor did the lack of character introduction and plot development. On the one hand my mind was trying to figure out the purpose of the new characters that were half-heartedly introduced and on the other hand trying to figure out why some return characters were even there to begin with. I didn’t even catch what the “Order” was about as for the most part I was trying to read the plaques being hung on the wall (which could have been stilled long enough to read at least – not everyone is a speed reader!)

This definitely wasn’t a good follow-up to previously released Potter movies, but I guess every series has to have one bad seed. Hopefully the next one will be outstanding and worth waiting to see.
