Concert: Gerling @ The Enigma, June 23rd Review

I myself am not exactly the biggest fan of Gerling, I dont care for their music particularly and I find them to be rather annoying but I figured "hey, should be humourous at least" and went along with my girlfriend. Having known only 3 or 4 songs by this band and having heard absolutly nothing of the opening band (Parlour) I came into this not expecting much. Parlour played through and sounded alright , although I did'nt pay much attention (1 pissed Aussie and 2 Pissed Poms asked me to be their 4th in a game of pool, I could'nt refuse of course). After waiting until 11:30 for Gerling to start they finally came on (an odd looking bunch I might add in). Gerling consists of 3 members, a Bass playing canadian and 2 aussies (guitar/vocals,drums). Although finding most of their songs highly annoying (all of you who have heard "Ghost Patrol" may have some idea of what im talking about) I found the atmosphere of everyone dancing quite fun and even found myself shaking my boo-tay for a few of the songs (by shaking my boo-tay I of course mean stepping from side to side nervously looking like a total retard). The songs I had previously known from their cds that they played I enjoyed such as "Death to the apple gerls","Enter Space Capsule" was especially good and yes even "Ghost Patrol" even though there was no sample of the japanese girl singing the intro part which was slightly dissapointing. But overall It was good and I had a good time especially for a gig that only cost 12 dollars (AUS). So if you enjoy dancing or just want to listen to some decent tunes I recommend seeing gerling live, the cd I however cannot recommend. Also on another note (possibly more important) The Enigma has reasonably cheap beer, another reason to go there if not for Gerling.
