Believe it or not, you can heat your home with electricity instead of natural gas. And electric vehicles are getting to the point where in a couple years, they will be as good, or better than ICE vehicles, look at what's coming in 2021:

  • llama66: What do we use to create that power? Coal? Hydro? Natural Gas? Fusion? Fission? Solar? Wind?

All pollute in some form or another.
  • DrCaleb: Some less than others. The point being, ICE has only one pollution stream, electric can be varied or zero.

Ideally fusion, but until then, a mix of solar, wind, fission, and hydro would suffice. We can even use natural gas to wean ourselves off coal and oil in the short term (say the next 20 years), but we cannot keep burning fossil fuels indefinitely.

I know we're not going to switch over tomorrow (or even in the next decade), but the longer we wait, the higher the cost our society will pay (in terms of disasters and suffering).
