What does "Asian" mean? I know the area and I would asume Asian means oriental, of Chinese/Vietnamese descent. Police probably have a idea of who it might be and looking at video and thus didn't have to be more specific, but it appeases people for some info:
"They described the suspect as an Asian male in his 20s with a medium build. He is between five-feet-eight to six-feet-tall.
He has black hair and a moustache. He was last seen wearing glasses, a black hoodie and black pants."

You assume wrong.

May be, if they were more specific the public would know more.
Either way, catch the SOB before he uses the scissors for something much worse. I would wager he has mental problems. What coward attacks anyone let alone a kid?
May be, if they were more specific the public would no more.
That would be racist.

How is reporting a suspect in a crime discriminatory?

Why do they give such a poor description of the suspect ?
Because
A) The police doesn't want competition.
B) Any description that is non white is by definition, racist.
"someone from China or Japan".
As I said, I know the area fairly well, haven't been there in 20 years, but I have a good idea of the demographic well.

A) The kid only saw a person coming at her with sharp scissors. Kinda distracts the eyes from the attackers face.
B) No, racism involves discrimination, by definition. No discrimination, no racism. Get triggered much?
Hate to say but a distressing number of these 'attacks' on Muslims tend to be hoaxes that were the invention of the supposed victim.
I highly doubt a kid is going to lie about this, especially when they are looking at video already and there were other witnesses.
Now the question remains as to why a public school is permitting a girl to attend classes while wearing a symbol of gender oppression and patriarchal intimidation.
