British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus and is self-isolating but will still lead the government's response to the outbreak.
Pretty sure that somewhere in their political procedures manual there's a section outlining that they have to do really stupid things on occasion, like ignoring proven medical advice or long-established scientific fact on hygiene. This proves to their angry gape-mouthed supporters that they're not any smarter than the ones who voted them in. Guaranteed, going by British dimwit culture, that some of the most likely lads in the pubs would have been going "too scared to shake hands? what kind of a poofter wanker is he??!?!?" in genuine outrage if Boris had done what he'd just been told and that they'd never vote for him again. No win scenario but unfortunately even soccer hooligans with an average IQ of 90 are allowed to vote.
Apparently there is a way of thinking that says it would be better to seclude the elderly and otherwise vulnerable but not worry about contracting the virus yourself. In this way you build up a group immunity and the virus dies out, is the theory.
As I heard it, Johnston subscribes to that theory.

Well he only partially accomplished his goals then, got himself sick without secluding vulnerable people. I wonder how many of them he infected when he intentionally shook hands with everybody at the hospital to foolishly downplay the disease
Weeks After Saying 'I Shook Hands With Everybody' at the Hospital and downplaying Coronavirus, Boris Johnson Tests Positive for Coronavirus.
Priceless.
