There is no question in my mind and it will only get stronger because while the world looks for resources for their isatiable appetite there will only be one place to look . Kind of sad in a way but its reality .

Did the Liberals raise the price of oil?

  5. Thu Dec 21, 2006 3:22 pm
Yes, thank you Liberals, for all the volcanic activity millions of years ago, and that meteor that killed all the dinosaurs and for planting all those trees tens of thousands of years ago. And thank you for doing nothing about global warming that let the Mountain Pine beetle snack on all our future wood exports.

And thank you for wasting billions of dollars on HRDC and the gun registy . . .

Here, here. I live in Prince George. Heart of the Mountain Pine Beetle attack, and in about five years this place will be a ghost town. Almost every single pine tree in this area, and soon most of BC has been attacked by the pine beetle. The war is over and now it's just a matter of figuring out how to make a living without the forest. The federal government better be as generous with us as they were with the east coasters when their fishery went to hell.

Yep, all the northern communities will have a tough go of it in about 5 years. Here in Quesnel, there are rumblings of oil and gas production from out Nazko way. Quite a few homes here in town are being bought up by people from the oil and gas industry for something that's going to start up come spring. That is all I've been able to gather through the grape vine so far. Might have to come down to Quesnel Ruez in the next couple years.......

Hell I'm looking at all options right now. When I came back up in September things looked good, but then lumber prices went to hell. I have a job coming up in January at a plywood sawmill, but who knows how long that will last. Where exactly is Nazko?

That's like thanking Ralph Klein for Alberta's booming economy...or weren't you aware that he put all that oil in the ground?

West of Quesnel. The Nazko hwy runs from Quesnel out about 85-90 kms to the Nazko Reserve. Then the bush roads go all over from there, south to Williams Lake, north to Vanderhoof. The entire area is littered with capped oil and natural gas wells that were drilled as far back as the fifties. I think they're trying to get the area producing about the time the bark beetle wood is all done.

The G7 or G8 if you want to add Russia is not even that relevant anymore there are lots of other countries to consider now.

That's interesting, it would certainly help deversify the economy a bit. Exploration shouldn't be to hard, there won't be a lot of trees in the way soon. Hopefully the mining exploration turns into something feasible as well, I know there has been a lot of that going on as well.

The west needs to remove that offshore drilling moratorium.
Get some gas & oil flowing and the port in Rupert and BC is in business.
