Children traditionally have been not recognized as reliable witnesses....for good and proper reason.
Add to the sad history of males being falsely accused of the sort of offences.
The sad aspect to this was the then faddish notion put forward by Psychologists etc that "children don't lie."..........that preposterous notion received more credit than GW.
That was discarded along with hypnosis recovered memories, when a critical quantum of false convictions was exposed thanks to DNA.
It even proceeded to the unconstitutional miscarriage of justice in that of rape victims could refuse to testify subject to cross-examination.
I counselled him to walk the straight and narrow and not fall to temptation AND keep a Dictaphone in his pocket.
First day he carried it, he turned it on and recorded a female student propositioning him for a better grade. Angry that he rebuffed her graphic proposition, she proceeded to file a complaint and got quietly expelled for her trouble.
He finally retired because of this sort of crap on a regular basis.
it is so freggen scary that one little cry for attention, one little immature 'i wounder what would happen' thought can fuck a persons life so much. even if this story is blown open and she is completely caught in a lie, the teacher is still going to be stigmatized with the accusation for the rest of his career.
True enough. Look at Martinsville Saskatchewan where false allegations by children who can't lie became a major witch hunt that ruined numerous lives.
It's time that mental health professionals got off their collective asses and found better methods of ascertaining the truth from children, rather than taking everything kids say as an absolute. And while they're at it maybe they should start looking at other causes for psychological problems in children rather than taking the easy way out and labeling every problem as abuse related.
A few years ago in Thorndale Ontario there was a similar occurrence that proved to have catastrophic results. As I remember, there was one or maybe two girls who accused a prominent teacher of sexual molestation. His name was unscrupulously splashed in press over the country as soon as the perpetuated incident unraveled.
This poor sole lost his reputation, his farm, his family and disbursed his life savings just to prove his innocence. Where is there any justice here. He was never able to regain any of his losses even though the
courts found him innocent. He had lost everything in life he had ever worked for. He was left a worthless broken man. If the press needs such cheap sensationalism to sell their product then why don't they report the accusers names. Let the world know who the fabricators of these lies are, so maybe the rest of the community can keep a safe distance.
Sure, protect the minors, and to hell with the person who dedicates his or her life to educate the little angels.
I welcome your responses. Thanks::::::
i have been close to many teachers in my life and i have never had the "need" to chat with any of them on msn ... then or now.
Now when you went to school did they have MSN ?
If your daughter comes home and discloses something like this...would you respond the way most of you are responding now?
I know I wouldn't (respond how most here are)
Why was this guy's name splashed all over? Because he's in court facing charges. This tells me there's at least the possibility of truth to the girl's story. The cops don't lay charges like this lightly.
How many kids here in BC have been molested because names weren't named, and the "bad" teachers were quietly shuffled from one school district to another?
To be honest - no elementary school teacher has any business being on a student's msn.
To be honest - no elementary school teacher has any business being on a student's msn.
agreed, that's just creepy.
Well I asked for a response and it didn't take long, did it. We are talking about teachers here. What are the chances these people, assuming they have a reasonable amount of intelligence, would dedicate their lives to education to fuel their lust for little girls or boys.
Yes I agree that it has happened and I as a parent would not take it lightly. Most of you are missing the concept of this posting. I am not talking about MSN or chat lines. I am not talking about any certain religious educators who have knowing abused their students. (known fact many convicted) Yes they were moved around or as you said, swept under the carpet. I am talking about fairness. These people are being tried in the press, not the courtroom. The release of innocent peoples names have caused utter destruction after a court of law has found him or her innocent on all charges. Devastating results for someone who has proven to have done nothing wrong. Remember there has been no court date set yet. This is annihilation of character.
Before getting hot under the collar and assuming that I condone something like this happening. Stop and listen. All I am saying is , don't pass adverse judgment on the person until you know there has been a wrongful act committed. There is no need to publish names as soon as a juvenile points a finger.
I work with public school children daily. I get along great with them, but I always need to remember that they are children. You need to use a different code of ethics when dealing with them, than you would an adult.
It is the name publication issue before a court hearing that I am opposed to. If found guilty, for God's sake, let the banners fly and the press can do their job without my input into the matter.
Hope this states my thoughts on this issue without people wanting to add words and scenarios to what I am trying to express. John
