The Ontario Provincial Police were involved in a tense standoff with Mohawk protesters in Deseronto, about 220 kilometres east of Toronto, on Friday.

The protesters are f#cking lying, they had weapns. Of course they had weapons.

What is the nature of the dispute? Remember the Oka crisis? A near-by town decided to just take some land from the Oka reserve, so they could build a golf course. Federal law states no one can take land from a native reservation, not a municipal government, not a provincial government, not even a federal minister. It would take an action of the federal parliament to take land from a reservation. But the local municipal police entered the reservation to protect construction workers who bull-dozed trees to start construction. The SQ (Quebec provincial police) backed-up the municipal police, despite the fact no one had the right to take the land. Although the protest got out of hand, with guns waving on all sides, the natives were just defending what was theirs.

So, now we have another situation with guns drawn. I have to ask why the natives think this sort of action is necessary.
Last Sunday's blockade was erected near Belleville, Ont., to protest a land dispute with a Kingston-based developer.

What is the nature of that land dispute? What are the details?

Thats McGuinty's responsibility, if he feels he can't handle it all he has to do is place a call to Ottawa. And he hasn't , but that sure hasn't stopped him from blaming his problems on Ottawa, typical.
