A Winnipeg mother took matters into her own hands Wednesday night, after her 10-year-old girl was attacked at a park near their North End neighbourhood home.
Having heard of too many horror stories about how nothing is done to the criminal until it is too late for some innocent child, I cannot say I blame the mother. Having two kids and twins on the way, I can honestly say that if something like that happened to one of mine, the guy would be lucky to make it to the hospital.
This is why police urge people not to try to confront criminals if they don't have to - it's not a Hollywood movie and people will just end up getting hurt.
The last thing a little girl who has been violated in such a manner needs is to see her mother with 27 staples in her neck and her brother stabbed. It's a stupid idea, period, regardless of her emotional state.
