Gladys Powers, Canada's oldest First World War veteran, has died. The Abbotsford woman was 109.

    :The couple first settled in Calgary but eventually moved to B.C. in 1925 because Powers found the Alberta winters unbearable. They did most of the trip on foot, walking almost 1,000 kilometres along the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks because they had little money:
