A Surrey, B.C. man, who has lived and worked in Canada for 33 years, says government red tape is keeping him from going to the aid of his ailing mother in the Netherlands

    my question is why didn't he apply for citizenship? Then he wouldn't have this issue.

    33 years as a permanent resident? come one.

    I was thinking the same thing...33 years and they couldnt come up with $200 dollars for the citizenship?

    I like this little part...

    Maybe should have thought about becoming a Canadian citizen 30 years ago and getting a passport...how is it Canada's problem that someone is too lazy or too stupid to do the Citizenship test.
