Between Sunday afternoon and early Monday morning, a ferry and a cruise ship became stranded in a 50-square-kilometre ice pack at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River.

    I thought the Noth West Passage was ice free? Must have been stuck on all those polar bear carcasses.

    Uhhh, ever hear of winter? And it wasn't in the NW Passage, it was in entrance to the St. Lawrence Seaway...but then you would have actually had to have read the article... :roll:

    Read Arctic Front by Ken Coates et al and you'll see there are very real issues with the melting of the polar ice cap.

    so what the hell were they doing in Canadian waters at this time of year? :roll: and not expecting ice? Cruise ship company has been attending too many Al Gore fund raisers me thinks
