Well it only makes sense. Why pay for both, and people definitely aren't going to get rid of their cell phones.

I'm still hanging on and have no Cell phone. Not only do I have my Telus landline, but use them for Internet and TV as well.

In time they should make landlines free and keep them analogue for emergency situations.

I'm guessing that we're the only 2 people in Canada without a cell phone.
    Wanna start a club?

Fifth. I hate the goddamn things. Progress peaked with frozen pizza. Technology, since then, has been a drag on humanity. My friends and I know where one another live. When we want to talk, we DROP IN WITH A 12-PACK, like humans should.

Mine's currently busted, does that count?

I guess that you also had to walk up hill, through a bilzzard and had to brew your own beer :P

From the answers we've gotten, this will be a "boys only" club.

Women... can't program a VCR (remember those), don't know how the remote works and won't touch any electronics. But give them a phone and they'll figure it out in about 3 seconds.

Sure; but you cover the material costs.

No big surprise really, the technology is going this way in most advnaced countries. In most of Asia and Europe, cell phone usage is much higher than landlines. We're only starting to notice because our cellular technology is so far behind theirs.

As much as I hate cell phones, they are far more convenient than regular phones. You can carry them anwyhere, send text messages, and if you have a smartphone, check email, listen to music, etc.
