Fascinating. I wonder what the conservative die-hards will think of this.

Uniting with the socialists and separatists just to stay in power. Tut tut.

They should allow a confidence vote and if they're defeated, so be it. If the other parties want to turn Canada into Italy, they'll suffer the consequences of their actions at the polls. At times like this, the nation needs stability, but then again the Socialists are out of touch with reality and the BQ dance while Canada burns.

On Wednesday, Parliament witnessed a bizarre move when the Conservatives voted in favour of a Bloc motion that transfers $2.6 billion to Quebec and allows the province to administer its own sales tax.

    What? Pandering to Quebec?

The funny part is that all that pandering may yield no political results for them in Quebec at this point, yet will almost certainly annoy the heck out of the party's old Reform base.

 A part of me really loves these scenarios, but, to be honest, I feel for those old-school western conservatives. Once again they're being frozen out - this time by their own kind. Must be pretty frustrating.

I have no sympathy for one party people or areas especially when they themselves take pleasure in it when it happens in reverse.

    Reap what you sow boys.

To be honest, I'm not sure why the Tories are worried, if the Liberals try to pull a no confidence motion during the Olympics, they'll be seen as assholes.

Thats why they are trying to delay any possible confidence motion until the Olympics!

Tory insiders say the party is hatching a survival plan to keep the surging Liberals at bay and delay any potential election long enough to enjoy the international limelight at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.

A major plank of the plan would see the Tories delay next year's budget and deliver it in late March -- two months later than when the budget was handed down in 2009.

That would deprive the Grits of an important confidence vote before the Olympic flame arrives in Vancouver next February, at which point the Conservatives hope the economy will have turned around

Then Harper can table an unpalatable bill that nobody but him wants in the hopes that people will say just that if they vote it down.

The voters, however understand that its a ploy and I don't think (especially if the vote it down united) they will hold anybody but Harper responsible if he does just that.

Ah. Alright, just woke up, so I somewhat glanced over the material. So basically they have to hold it off for? What? Ten months? Hmm...we'll see.

    Its almost noon.

Harper needs the support of the NDP and Bloc, the notion of which was called treasonous by the usual con hacks here.

Its just another example of how Harper will say and do anything to remain in power.
