Somalian pirates have released the entire crew of a Belgian ship seized 10 weeks ago after a ransom was paid, the Belgian government said Sunday.

This is a very bad precident based on a very bad idea. This buying off of the pirates may be more convenient in the short run as the eashest way to deal with it, but it will become even more ugly later on. The demands are going to get to be more expensive and when they don't get what they want they will get violent.

Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.
