The Saskatchewan Party government is proposing legislation that would allow the province's marriage commissioners to refuse to perform same-sex marriages.

    This is wrong in more ways then one. You might have a point if it were a church refusing (they should be allowed to refuse anybody not of their congregation) but a marriage commissioner is a government employee. They have no right to refuse anymore then they could refuse marrying people not fo their "faith".

    This is sorta the opposite of forcing church officials to perform marriages against their beliefs. To me this is no different then JW doctors refusing to give blood to patients who need it.

    If your beliefs prevent you from doing your job properly then find another job. A marriage commissioner is a secular government position. Religious beliefs have no place in their job nor should it.

    Totally agree, if you're a government employee , in this case a marriage commisioner i would fully support a human rights case against such person, not to mention a discrimination case agasint he people in question.


    Bottom line, if you don't wan't to marry gay people because your 'religion' tells you is 'wrong'. Thats fine, resign your office and head back to your snake-handling
