JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Constance McMillen didn’t believe her Mississippi school district would really call off her senior prom rather than allow her to show up with her girlfriend and wear a tuxedo.

That area of the US is full of right wing religious bigots that "love" as a potiential convert yet dispise you for the people you are.

These folks to everything possible to twart everyting everything their prophet Jesus ever said.

    They are an embarrasment.

When you're right, you're right. It's not a right. The school board cancelled it - that will do. The girl in question should tell her classmates that want to blame her to take it up with the school board. I hope at least one lesbian/gay person steps forward every year so they either wake up or just become a promless school. But then isn't this the state where they still have separate black and white proms?

I think this is getting ridiculous. Personally, I don't care who someone takes to the prom, and I don't really care what they wear. That being said, I have no interest in seeing some guy wearing a short tight dress, or seeing a girl wearing a tux for that matter; but it won't offend me to the point that I would recommend nor condone cancelling an event!

If I wear a long, loose dress, can I come to your prom?

Hey, I'm a cyclist - no problem. The girls go wild for it. But since I would be wearing that long dress, I would enforce a strict no peeking policy, at least until after the first date.

You people who are raising hell because this girl wasn't allowed into the prom are just double standard hypocrites!!! Did you ever ask if the majority will feel comfortable if that lesbian girl wears tuxedo and kisses her girlfriend at the prom?
If the rules state that Prom in this school district is for a boy and girl why cant it remain like this?
She should move to "civilized" San Fransico cause in that part of the country they are morally corrupt!! and then she can go to the prom with her dog if she wants. They can spend the night too.

I guess you avert your eyes in horror when say, Dianne Keaton wore a tux, or Madonna kissed Britney etc.

Look out, here comes one now!

Man, those lipstick lesbians are a scary bunch:
