An announcement at a Walmart store in New Jersey ordering black people to leave brought chagrin and apologies Wednesday from leaders of the company, which has built a fragile trust among minority communities.

All you do is pick of the phone and hit "Page".
THis is a disrespectful and disgusting action, and hope they miraculously manage to find out who did it. I don't think it is appropriate to boycott Wal-Mart for the actions of an individual, be in some asshole Sales Associate or a Racist Customer.
I should note that there are plenty of other reasons to boycott Wal-Mart,
In this case, it was a racist remark. I can't possibly understand how a black person feels hearing shit like that, but c'mon man, they gotta realize it's OBVIOUSLY not store policy and to save the boycott for something that actually makes a point.
Even if it was a rogue employee, it's not like you can ask prospective job hunters if they're racists. Just try and find the idiot and fire his ass.
Yeah, it's obviously some jerk-off that didn't work there. I was shopping in Giant Tiger one day when I caught some guy using the store phone asking Mike Hunt to go to the service desk.

Exactly.
I'm disappointed that some think a boycott for this specific reason would be appropriate (for any retailer). That's like suggesting we bomb South Africa if some asshole from South Africa assaulted someone in Canada. This guy is not a representative of Wal-Mart.
At my store, since we are relatively small, we only have phones at our tills, under strict control. No security on them, but it's hard to say something derogatory on our phone line when we are standing right there. Customers can use them, but only with me personally standing there. Oh, and I have to dial the number. But again, we are small. We are nothing like Wal-Mart. It's impossible for the poor saps that work there to watch every phone.
