A warning for students trying to stay awake through those all-night cram sessions: chugging energy drinks such as Red Bull, especially on an empty stomach, has been linked again to causing seizures.
WEll, thery're busy going after the fat people right now. But when they're donw eiht them, I can see he energy drinks coming under the baleful eye of the nanny statists.
These drinks give you a bit of a boost but only for the short term, then your body crashes. Goes for any type of drink that gives you a spike.......and the bigger the spike...the bigger the crash. It's just the way everyone's body works. Stuff should be banned from kids getting their hands on too.
Don't touch the stuff myself (other than Jagerbombs) Proven that Fruit Juce (especially apple) gives you a better and longer boost without the crash at the end.
The problem with energy drinks is that the guys playing sports who are in their fourties and drink them are at increased risk for cardiac arrest. Kids and young adults are at risk as well. Taking some added caffeine to stay awake is not bad I suppose. But when someone takes them to enhance sports ie skating etc they are really dangerous.

Funny you should say apples. Was having this very same conversation with my friend last week. My friend is a PHD and has been published with regards to nutrition and sports........and NOT a fan of these energy drinks. She said have an apple too.......at least there's some nutritional value to the intake by eating one along with the carbohydrates.
