Ya, there's an economics wizard for you.
It's like c'mon guys this is NOT the same thing!
I've got a Greek friend
Yeah, I've got one of those too, everyone should have one.
He still thinks the government should be spending money to create economic opportunities, which this EU money doesnt do.
But, if you want the loan, you live with the conditions.
Don't like the conditions ? Return the money and walk away.
Opps, cant return the money, already spent it.
They should not have been bailed out in the first place, better to let them
go bankrupt.
I've got a Greek friend who is comparing the Greek riots to the uprisings in North Africa (He lives and works in England) They are polar opposites. One is oppressed peoples who have had enough of being kicked around and oppressed, while the Greeks are a bunch of lazy bastards who think they are entitled to live like kings and not work for their benefits. These riots are a temper tantrum from a spoiled and indulged populace. let the bastards go tits up.
You do realize the reason Greece is being forced into these Austerity measures isn't that they overspent and under taxed right? They invested in TRIPLE A rated, INSURED securities with US banks that turned out to be FRAUDULANT...
The banks who perpetrated that fraud walked away with the tens of billions of dollars, and left Greece holding the bag. If I were Greece I'd tell them to go #$*% themselves and demand a criminal investigation.

I think both are true. The Greek govt colluded with Goldman Sachs to make their financial position seem rosier than it was, so the EU would not force them to change. They have an economy that is based in large part on working for the govt - very little private industry except tourism. They were living beyond their means. But then so is ever western Country - always borrowing because tomorrow will be better, but that tomorrow (repayment) never comes - except with Paul Martin. And as in other western countries, the rich took all the spoils, while the austerity measures fall on the middle class and poor. It's happening in the US, it will happen here too. If they US thinks they can save themselves by cutting Social Security and Medicare, they're in for some exciting times as well.

Oh...the .
Okay, for a moment I thought you were talking about Andy and Prof. Chomsky.
Here is the video
If the leftists here ever start tossing Molotovs at the police then I will be a-okay with the police returning fire. There is NO EXCUSE for trying to kill people so you can keep your vacation benefits.

Spoken like a true US "conservative".
I'd put my life's work, education, success and accomplishments up against your own any day. And my parent's were near pennyless - we had no help.
It's my experience radical right wing neo-cons are lucky to have completed high school (and statistically accurate by the way). Explains the anger too.

You've just made Bart's day. If you can do it, all those other lazy sobs can too, right? There's room at the top for everybody.

But that's just it. I didn't "make it". I did everything I was supposed to do and more, and I was blessed with some gifts other people aren't that gave me an edge... and my prize was becoming a middle class wage slave who's life can be destroyed the next time my employer decides share prices need to rise 1% and they should lay off workers and make everyone else work harder.
