Just to be the one who throws the grenade into the outhouse ( ), I don't see how this kind of activity by certain Christians is any different from the honour killings committed by certain Muslims. Whether it's this sort of sickening shit, or polygamist Mormon rapists forcibly marrying young teenage girls, or the antics of the Westboro Baptists, or the record of what Catholic priests get up to around children, it's all the same thing. It's just rotters using religion to fuck up kids, either ruining their minds forever or outright killing them. As it is with some Muslims exactly so it also is with some Christians. It's just human evil hiding behind the power of religion as usual.

As long as you keep the government secular, you can always fight this sort of thing.

Christian fundamentalists are as adept at subverting governments and local authorities to their own interests as much as any Muslims are. How do you think that the Catholic Church has been so successful for so long at preventing any real investigations or prosecutions of pedophile/pederast clerics from being conducted by secular authorities?

Religious domination of the state certainly isn't a recent Muslim invention. It's a sad phenomenon that's as old as the human race. If anything's myth it's in claiming that full secularization is even possible. It's certainly not the one that says that all of western Christianity is under full-bore assault by the government. That particular one's just a successfully profitable lie politicized preachers always resort to as one of their very successful methods of keeping their drones stoked up for battle and to keep the cash flowing in to their own pockets.

It's mental illness that is the root cause. Some frothers like to blame the problem on religion but, as we all know you can find these crazy bastards in every belief system, religious, secular or political. Using their logic( ), I can say that communist regimes and individuals holding communist beliefs were motivated to butcher people of faith because they were atheists who hated religion.

That's not christian or any other religion. That's only ill on head people.

Twas ever thus, I'm sure. Long before Jesus or Mohammed. The difference with Muslims is that in their home country, barbaric practices are the norm and not prosecuted. At least we've moved on from that in "Christiandom." (In which Christianity played a huge role. When the bible was translated to English, the common man could read that all were equal under Jesus, and started asking why then all aren't equal on earth as well - revolution.)

But, if we allow the fundie nutbar Christers to get their hands on the levers of power, look out. Oh, wait, that's just what's happening in the US, and we have our share of the same type of idiots up here too. Sad how Christianity led to the freeing of the individual, which scared some people so much they've done a 180 and are trying to walk backwards on that hard fought road.
