Furlong noted the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident.

At least he saved the state the cost of a trial and execution.

This is a very sad story. This man was committed against his will to a mental institution back in 2000. He tussled with the police, but was not charged with a crime. This man has suffered with mentai illness for a very long time. How does someone like this gain access to an AK-47? I have never spent one day in a mental ward, and I have no idea where to procure an AK-47. I am all for law abiding citizens having the right to bear arms. This man was a documented nutcase. Have we learned nothing from Va. Tech? We need to take a good hard look at where he obtained this firearm. If some scumbag illegally sold this firearm to this disturbed individual, he should be charged with three counts of second degree murder. If somehow this nutcase obtained this firearm legally [I really hope not }, than we have a lot of work to do with our background check system. Either way, heads are going to roll.

Seriously doubt it. They didn't roll when Loughner got his guns either. I believe AK's are legal as long as they are semi-auto. He could have legally bought it at any gun show, no? Just a bit of collateral damage to keep the US strong and free.
