Manitoba New Democrats have won their fourth-straight majority government.

They lost the popular vote to the Progressive Conservatives, but had a strong showing in seat-rich Winnipeg.

For all to remember when the whining about the PCs

It did. A workable solution is in progress now. To throw all the money awaythat went to making it happen is stupid. To spend even more in court battles trying to find a shorter route is insanity.

You don't need to go to court to find a shorter route, simply build it the way it was originally planned.

The NDP just won't build it, they think it better to build the longer run and waste time, money, and power.

More than 70 prominent environmental scientists have endorsed a bid by first nations in Northern Ontario and Manitoba to have 43,000 square kilometres of intact boreal forest declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.

“As scientists who have contributed to advancing conservation issues and opportunities around the world,” they say in their letter, “we would like to acknowledge the globally unique cultural and ecological values of the boreal forest ecosystem on the east side of Lake Winnipeg.”

Its not going to happen without many many fights.

Selinger emerged from the election with 37 of the legislature's 57 seats — one more than in the 2007 election and the biggest haul of any provincial party since 1932.

We said no to that loudly and clearly.

I'd like to know where they got their numbers from. The other media outlets, and elections Canada dont agree.

The popular vote was much closer, with the NDP receiving 46 per cent compared with the PC's 43.9 per cent.

If you feel all the additional cost, time, and power loss is worth a few trees, that argument makes perfect sense.

I however, don't feel that way.

I however, don't feel that way.

I'm glad you had no say in it if you feel that restarting the process, and wasting all the money that went into negotiations for a West side route is worth it. It was a combination of that and the fear mongering by the Conservatives that lost the election for them. And Manitoba remembers the Gary Filmon days, with his promise to not privatize MTS then doing it anyway, the Filmon Fridays, and the nursing layoffs.

"It's our oil".

The better campaign won.
