Just what I was wondering. Viterra set to make big profits - wonder whose pocket that is coming out of.

I consider who's pockets the kickbacks are going into, then think how quickly the legislation went from table to Senate to Gov. General.

    Coincidence? Hmmmmmmm.

It will be interesting to see where Gerry Ritz goes after politics.

My guess is Richardson or Vittera. Has a cushy job lined up somewhere I'm sure.

Does he have to pay a kickback to Harper, since Ritz couldn't take a dump w/o Harper's OK?

Glad to see my taxes going to some firms bottom line instead of securing market stabilty for a food staple my nation depends upon.

A few mentions of taxes here. Pray tell, did I miss a tax hike which came about from the end of the CWB?

I had no idea that the Wheat Board managed the poutine harvest. Seems I learn something new every day.

No. Not a tax hike. Just resources that have built up using Public revenue is now being exploited by a private company for profit. Yesyerday's taxes scooped up by private companies.

Thank you for this Bart. I just had a mental picture of a bunch of French-Canadians wading through the poutine paddies. Except in my mind all french-canadians look like Raydan.

I'll be chuckling to myself for a while.

Subsidy going to the port of churchhill. This is to compensate for the loss of the CWB.

Gerry Ritz's action comittee to figure out shipping (something you'd think they would look into BEFORE passing this bill) is paid for by your taxes as well.

Won't this be compensated by increased tax revenues that these grain firms would need to pay due to higher profits? Canada still has a corporate tax, no?

The action committee really isn't surprising. This is government, after all. They're supposed to waste tax dollars on paperwork.

Edit: How are farmers affected? Won't the corporations make money by SELLING the grain purchased from farmers? I don't think farmers are having their grain stolen or something.
