Rescue helicopters evacuated dozens of people from snow-blocked villages in Serbia and Bosnia and air-lifted in emergency food and medicine as a severe cold spell kept Eastern Europe in its icy grip, with the death toll climbing to 79.

Parts of the Black Sea froze near the Romanian coastline and the rare snow fell on Croatian islands in the Adriatic Sea.
I was on those islands in May, they looked like they hadn't seen snow for 100 years.
Siberian Express rolling thru.

Can't really be that surprised... they're pretty much on the same latitude as Toronto. I know, different environment, but still.
