This episode is symptomatic of the problems with the proliferation of firearms in the hands of mentally deranged or underdeveloped individuals.
Shoot a stranger, then barricade yourself in a trailer and attempt to kill your entire family to prevent facing your judgement.
Whew! Guns, guns and more guns down there among a bunch of mental midgets that should not have been allowed to buy them.

He was no stranger, he was the Quebec guy's ex father in law. Sounds as if he was mentally deranged and yes, should not have had a firearm, no knives either cos he knifed his wife, kids then himself.
Who knows what state of mind he had when he got the gun, assuming he had it legally.
