Totally agree although, even if we made it past the US to play Japan in the Gold medal game, I don't think the ladies would have done any better than they did in their first meeting, losing 2-0. Canada is ranked 7th in the world and it definitely shows when we play higher ranked squads, the team has improved of late, but they still have a long way to go to be able to play higher ranked teams. They had their hands full today playing France and got very lucky with Diana Matheson scoring the last minute goal in added time. If anyone deserved to score the winning goal it was Matheson, the little 5 foot nothing player has been a regular on the team for years and has always given her very best in every match.

Well done ladies and now all of Canada waits for the ban hammer to fall. Because as we all know, FIFAss isn't going to let some North American upstarts besmirch their reputation as the bastion of fair play, tolerance and sportsmanship for the "Beautiful Game".

Did the Americans send a spare gold medal to Norway? Wouldn't want their extra player that they had on the field to feel left out of the celebration or anything.
