It's not sounding all that optimistic that a deal will be made before the deadline. We could easily see the lockout go ahead.

The only things I'd like to see locked out of the NHL are Buttman and Shanahan.

Maybe this time the owners of the profitable teams will wake up, smell the coffee and realise that Mr. Wonderful's dream of keeping teams in football and Nascar markets is not only costing them money but putting them in direct competition with themselves for free agent talent when Buttmans legacy teams are going after the same players with their money.

I skated with a current NHL captain yesterday. He feels that if there's nothing going on with the current NHLPA offer, there will be a strike/lockout.
On the flip side..........we'll have a few extra bodies going into the fall. :D

Which is why the OHL is the best game out there. We used to joke about how bad the All-Star games were. Most regular season games these days are no more intense. Fuck the NHL.

While I agree the OHL has a great game, the owners make their money on a child's hope to make the NHL. Only a handful have a good experience. My nephew played with guys like Michal Neuvirth, Taylor Hall, Ryan Ellis, Adam Henrique and had a great experience but most of the teams are made up of a few stars and a supporting group of castaways. Also some teams don't make much of an effort to ensure school is any kind of a priority. I like watching them though.

    Greed.

Owners got their way in the last lockout, now they want it changed. Fuck them.

I love hockey, but I have zero patience for billionaires and millionaires squabbling over money.

Hopefully both side realize that this is the attitude most of us have.

I can't wait for the season to start. I'm excited to see how the youngsters do this year, but if there's a strike/lockout... maybe i'll look for another sport to follow, or start spending time with the kids or something equally silly. In any case I suspect it'll be kind of like quitting smoking, it'll suck for a little while, but as time goes on I'll miss it less and less.
