Doesn't sound like it in Italy.
When I look at some of the politicians who have been successful in Europe, I don't feel so bad about ours. I think Americans can probably say the same.

Don't bet on it.. the ban would only be 3 years, and if another case looks
like it will bad for him, he can quickly jump back in to get his immunity back.
And the people will support him.
The thing I've always wondered about Italy is what kind of bastards did the other parties run that made Berlusconi' look good?
Communists, Socialists, Facists, Separatists, and unbelievably corrupt governments.
And the best reason for not doing PR elections.
