A Russian helicopter pilot who went missing during the Iqaluit-to-Greenland portion of a trip around the world was down to his last flare when he was found on a floe in the Davis Strait this morning.
Now as for the guy in the story. Dang lucky of him but also glad to see he had the training and enough of his equipment to survive. He got lucky but then again so many of us get lucky during our lives.
I do wonder if he will try to fly around the world again.
CBC reported that his last refueling stop had no avgas so he filled up with some other gas. Don't know how vital avgas is for the operation of a helicopter.

I'm thinking adventurer type. Wanting to set a world record or to be the first to do something.
One lucky fuck is what he is.
