Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant has signed a law that allows people with religious objections to refuse service to gay couples and protects other actions considered discriminatory by gay rights activists.
The U.S. business community has been pushing back against such legislation.
On Tuesday, PayPal Holdings cancelled plans to open a global operations center in Charlotte, N.C., and invest $3.6 million US in the area over its new law.
In a letter dated March 29, founders and chief executives of more than 100 companies, including Apple, Twitter and Alphabet urged North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory to repeal the legislation.
Bryant, a Republican, said in a statement he signed the law "to protect sincerely held religious beliefs and moral convictions of individuals, organizations and private associations from discriminatory action by state government."
Since no religion is specified I assume this would apply to any religion?
The law does not allow anyone to deny service to gay couples. It allows people to refuse to perform services that offend their religious sensibilities.
Gay people still have the same right to the same services as anyone else. They can still buy donuts and cakes from a Christian bakery but they don't have the right to force a Christian bakery to bake a gay wedding cake, they can't force a Christian photographer to shoot a gay wedding, and etc.
It doesn't matter what the law allows because the law will be struck down by your Supreme Court. If you're in business to sell custom-decorated cakes, you'll decorate it any damn way the customer requests it. Otherwise, don't go into the cake decorating business. That's the way it should be and that's the way your Supreme Court will tell them it will be.
The unfortunate part is that you have so many shit-disturbers in the US South acting like kindergarten children that it requires your Supreme Court to be a kindergarten teacher sometimes.

While I'm not sympathetic to this law, what about a Jewish bakery being asked to decorate a cake with swastikas?
Swastika is Sanskrit and means 'well-being', until Hitler took it for his own gain. We should get the original meaning back and not give that asshole the power anymore.

You tell the Jews that, and good luck. We've had huge outrages about Chinese establishments featuring swastikas. It's one of those symbols that seems doomed for ever to be associated with evil.

Good point.
Nobody and I mean nobody should have the right to force their beliefs or morals on anyone else and that includes gays, religious nuts or SJW's because, real tolerance isn't group specific.

Lots of cultures and companies use swastikas. Native Americans use it as a symbol of blessing and a few activist Jews have been slapped down in Federal court for trying to force the natives to remove the symbols from tribal properties.

It's Christians who have been losing their businesses to social justice crybullies.

Which is as it should be.
