The price went from 19c/L in the summer and 9c/L in winter (no BBQ demand) to 39c, up north here to 49c.
So never bought another. It's been steady around 79c now while in that time went from $1.49 down to 75c back to 1.20. Conversion kits went from $1200 to three billion dollars.
Used to drive propane vehicles in the 80s. Then they added the road tax for propane vehicles. It was about a dime back then.

Yea the paving company I worked for converted their whole fleet (around 50 pick ups). At the time, we were basically into Urban development, but then the hard times of the early 80's hit and the company had to adapt. We started doing highway construction out in the boonies, and found that those small 1 or 200 in population type towns that we stayed at, hadn't received the memo that propane was the next big thing and there was no place to fill up.
Just read on GasBuddy today about Michigan is 'trying out alternative fuel' (read that propane!) on some school buses in 2017. The damn things have been propane here since the 80s, and before Toyota Priuses all the damn taxis I knew of ran propane.
I bet by 2525 they might even try natural gas down there!
Got rid of my propane Bronco (over 350,000 kms) as propane cost more upcountry, had to use the old farm truck this time of year (-35 or colder) and it was so rusty the paint was holding it together. Shit I kinda miss something falling off the car every day just thinking about it.
But thing that got me is - I was in Alberta in August this year. Gas was the same as or more than in Prince George and we have higher taxes AND a carbon tax in BC.

You sure you pay carbon taxes. I thought you got a break because you live in the middle of no where.
We just went through increases worth around $0.25 / L in the last 18 days or so, one for $0.08 and another for $0.09. There was no panic filling up then, but add a tax half of those increases and people go crazy.
I thought the exact same thing

He's one of the biggest anti Alberta advocates on this site along with his little buddy Andy that gave his 2 cents. Wrote a lot of bull shit there just to set up his shot at Alberta.
Elsewhere around these parts it bottomed about 87.9 and is now 107.9.
You're stuck with American refined gas for 1.359.
I see in much of Alberta it's still under a buck a litre.
Hey you shoulda seen the good ole USA. We went holidaying in the early 90s and wound up with a couple tows, a couple places they had to borrow my adapter and guesstimate and one shithole that charged $80 (vs $25 Cdn in Surrey) and then I ran out 50 miles later.

You might want to get off of your fucking high horse there pal. The U.S. has the exact same rate of NGVs as a per cent of total vehicle population as does Canada.
http://www.iangv.org/current-ngv-stats/
So not only are you not "enlightening" us in any way whatsoever, but you make yourself look foolish when you tend to imply that Canada is some sort of stalwart defender of NGVs when your countries per cent (as well as mine) of NGVs is a pathetic .06% . Third world shitholes like Pakistan are at 66.94%, Armenia 77.34%, Bolivia 29.83%, Fucking Venezuela, where gasoline is 1cent per liter.
http://www.globalpetrolprices.com/Venez ... ne_prices/
One cent a liter for gasoline and yet they still have a 5.59% of their total vehicle population as NGVs.
When you live in a glass house, don't throw rocks.

Is this what you were using?
I don't have a clue what the rest of Canada was doing, but BC had incentives back in the 1980s to convert and use them, and I was one of many who did.
But go ahead pointing out 3rd world countries make more use of alternative fuels only enforces the fact that Michigan finally trying propane is headline news. Spare me your indignation.
Do I have to point out the theme of what I'm saying to you idjuts? It's not being an Albertan or an American or a BCer that's the problem - it's corporate greed and the anti-progressive conservative mindset.
They put on a 4c tax and the price goes up 10c and you fucking whine about the tax and completely ignore the money they're pocketing collecting that tax. Not just now, but every time they do that.
That's exactly why I got rid of my propane vehicles. #1 they removed the incentive to convert in the early 1990s. #2 they decided to collect the road tax and the price was increase by more than double the tax - making savings minimal. That's why nobody but motorhome or fleet owners use conversions any more. And LNG power got crippled even worse - I bet there's still only the same 3 or 4 filling stations in BC there were in 1988.
Because why should I pay when someone else isn't mentality. Which in every single case takes over before anything can get a foothold.
Go over to gasbuddy and read the same overwhelming mindset on electric and hybrid vehicles. Wasn't enough that Reagan's anti-ZEV move put the USA so far behind on those that everyone thinks PRIUS and nobody thinks VOLT. Fuck no, they think the Chevy was some gov't funded program that didn't exist until they paid for it with bailouts. They hate the Volt!
You wanna claim you're 'conservative'? Then remember what Gramma told you -look after the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves. Don't warp that into 'ignore the dollars and gripe about the penny that pays for your healthcare and pensions'.
You'd like a car that was built here and will get you to work for pennies? Don't cut the incentives before they're established or once again the Chinese will do it for you.
ANDY - no but the farm truck did have a 460 in the sucker. Probably got the same mileage as that one!
