As a white male myself, I reject any notion that I am inferior or guilty of the sins of other white men. However, as a Canadian I cannot absolve myself of the guilt of my country. Crimes committed by Canada are crimes committed by Canadians, by definition. So are you saying, by extension all Cambod...

Justin’s overtures towards Alberta will fade away over time, because the exclusion of Western Canada (especially the prairie provinces) is fundamental to and indivisible from the Laurentian worldview. Justin will never be as blunt or as obvious in his disdain for Alberta and the prairies as his fat...

Where you’re going to start to see genuine hypocrisy, or at least selective morality, on the part of progressives is in the wake of the Toronto mass murder. The same people who so frequently sound the alarm over those who blame Muslims collectively for the terrorist acts of a few are going to be ju...

Meanwhile ultra-conservatives such as yourself resent the existence of everyone not willing to accept the inherent supremacy of a conservative straight white Christian male. The difference is that liberal belief in diversity means they tolerate even the people they resent; whereas conservatives bel...

The crisis for conservatism in Canada is the same as it is in the US, and in the UK and in general, throughout the West. It's very hard to get elected as a conservative. Why? Pretty simple, really. Most of the population pays little or no income tax. Why in hell would they want to vote for a conser...

So here's Justin--who runs on climate change and the environment--completely backing the KM pipeline at the expense of his green reputation and yet nobody in Alberta can bring themselves to say one decent word about him. He should have screwed Alberta like his dad. He would have lost exactly zero v...

Of course, if pipeline proponents in Alberta really want the Trudeau Liberals to force the pipeline issue with BC, they know what they have to do. Cut Bombardier in. That or accept state ownership. The two amount to essentially the same thing.

One things that’s easily forgotten in a media (social and otherwise) landscape that celebrates the extreme viewpoint is that Canadians are not sorting themselves into fascist and communist camps. The vast majority of conservatives are neither white supremacists not anarcho-capitalists, and the vast ...

The Alberta-Quebec dichotomy you mention is outdated by about 20 years.

I thought that was true for a while as well. I was mistaken, and so are you.

In fact, the dichotomy has never been clearer.

Ontarians spend very little time thinking about Alberta at all actually. At least in political/economic terms. But from the sounds of it on CKA, it seems Albertans are obsessed with Ontario. Sounds like some of the Albertan right keep a picture of Kathleen Wynne right next to the one of their highs...

Why are so many Albertans anti-Canadian? Why do so many other Canadians hate Alberta almost as much as they hated Nazi Germany? :| I think for many of those who do, it’s an extension of their anti-Americanism. Alberta is commonly considered the most American of our provinces, just as Quebec is cons...

I don’t think many Albertans are, unless you count opposing the federal Liberal Party and it’s values as being so.

Why are so many people in Virginia, anti-West Virginia? Why are so many Albertans, anti-Saskatchewan? When I was a child in Winnipeg in the early 1970s, why did I hear so many Newfie jokes? It’s part narcissism of small differences, part crab-in-the-bucket mentality. No one wants to live in the bot...

He’s playing a longer game than the B.C. government is. He’s “fighting” just hard enough to convince the average Canadian that he’s not his father when it comes to Alberta. Imagine if the oil were in Quebec and it’s export were somehow being blocked by another province (that wasn’t Ontario). In fac...

The other thing Conservatives need to remember is that, unlike the NDP (and they’re not even that consistent anymore), the Liberals are not an anti-business party. They’re an anti-business-without-connections-to-the-party party. They’re the referee who shows preference for certain teams, and this i...
