No, that's just stupid. What's going on is globalization. Nearly all countries in the Western world (and beyond) are integrating economically, but so far Europe's the only one that has taken the steps towards political integration, and even there its been roughshod at best. I'm a Euro-skeptic myself...

The environment playing a role in politics? Preposterous! Thank God we've stopped caring about what'll happen in fifty years in America. It does make things a whole lot simpler for wasting time on trivial matters, like flagburning amendments and how much of a tax break the richest 1% of the country ...
