Agree witht the sentiment about this warrior.... Whitney Pier is a part of Sydney in Nova Scotia, not New Brunswick. Does not mean that there were not a boat load men from NB and every other province that did not do similar feats.

There is a myth out there that folks from Quebec had a higher percentage of "Zombies" than the rest of Canada. Absolutely bunk! I just returned from an 8 city PR tour of the Great Lakes with HMCS Toronto. Two US cities and the rest Canadian. The final score was US 2, Canada 0. Where, exactly, has this figure of 300,000 dead from the two bombs come from? The deaths caused by the two bombs was on the order of 140,000. Even accounting for radiation sickness the figure comes no where near 300,000

Just to put things in perspective about the number of casualties expected for the invasion of Japan. The US had gotten pretty good at determining the number of Purple Hearts they would need for a given battle by 1945. Knowing the invasion on the Japanese home islands was in the works the Pentagon or...
