The war over language is as interesting as the war over territory. Brings back the old days of Reagan's "freedom fighters."

I wouldn't be surprsied if Brazil made a big deal about this. Lula popularity in Brazil is falling due to a number of recent scandals, so turning the nation's ire to Britain would suit him well. Especially since the election in Brazil is next year.

Keeping us out of Iraq was the one thing Chretien did that I cheered for (literally). That was soon tempered by the realization that he did commit us to Afghanistan (should we change the name to Afghanis Nam?) to chase down an imaginary bogeyman. Yup, Jean-boy actually did one thing right. Even if ...

You can shove your "conservatiive gov't responsible for Alberta's fortune" straight up your ass. Alberta has been blessed with an abundance of resources that gave them the money to develop other sectors with ease. The current boom in Alberta is happening for reasons beyond political control. If tha...

Call it what you will. WE already accept some degree of racial profiling, in that police usually describe the colour of a suspect (i.e. a caucasiona male in his early 20's). That's not only racial profiuling, but sexist and agist profiling to boot. Granted there is a difference when we're not talkin...

All the "scandals" of the Mulroney years were eclipsed by those in Chretien's first mandate. Chretien faced as many "scandals" in his first four years as Mulroney did in nine years. Care to investigate the facts? Just like all Chretien's sins were eclipsed by his keeping Canada out of Iraq. That to...

I've changed my mind somewhat since then. Sorry if that buggers up all of your preconceived notions about me. Somewhat? From asking for the destruction of Arab cities to "let's hold hands"....oh please. You either had a mindless reactionary response to the London bombings and you came to your sense...

Canada has more of a steady-Eddie, plodding tolerance. WE think about things a long time and then we say OK, we'll tolerate that. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of variation from coast to coast. The US, on teh other hand, veers wildly from periods of massive intolerance to "anythign goes." We ...

I agree SprCForr. I think his talk was intended for the media and politicians. I sincerely hopes that he does not underestimate the enemy because Al Qeada is very capable.

Smart guy, that Pat Buchanan. True conservative, not one of these "neoconservative" socialists.

Paul Bernardo was a murderous scumbag. The world did not deem it necessary to dedicate the resources of dozens of countries, thousands of men and billions of dollars to eliminate his threat. Relegating Osama bin Laden merely to a murderous scumbag vastly underestimates him. Underestimating the enemy...

"arroagnT' is an excellent word selection, Giselle. Thta, above all, is what I divined from teh inspired speeches of General Hillier. A mislpalced arroagance. With him in charge, we will not reach our objectives in this war.

Considering the content of the article attached by Great Briton, wouldn't a more accurate title of this topic be "China threatens to Nuke US if attacked by US." It kind of changes the meaning a bit.

Embedded journalists were supposed to be a way for the media to be right on the scene and report their own stories. Might not of worked that way, but that wasn't the intent.

Ah yes, "intent." What is they say about the road to hell? That it is paved with good intentions. Wise words.
