I lived in Hay River for 2 years. Hay River, NT has a population of 1200 whereas Norman Wells is about 800. I don't mind the isolation or the cold for that matter. I remember not being allowed in many bars in Kingston Ont. whether we were in uniform or not. If they thought you were military they wouldn't let you in. I remember that. That was back in the day... I've been awarded 5 medals. Not once have I ever been issued a weapon during their related duties. What does having a weapon have to do with anything? Simply that they were not considered hazardous missions. These guys that are giving their lives today will, at most, receive 2 medals. One for the m... |
