What a bizarre, if not shamless PR announcment this this. First, does this imply that government workers would be threatened with dismissal if they requested a leave of absence to do service in the CF? This just sounds ridiculous to me for some reason... Second, this will not make a difference to...

This is simply social-conservatism at work: to deter progress, advancement in our society through suppressing the potential of technology, education, and evolving political will.

It has been demonstrated countless times that if any nation caves to US demands (especially if such demands are unfair, illegal, or outright harmful), then the US will only demand more. If a nation allows the US to steal from it, they will. Such is the case with the illegal softwood tariffs. The ...

Personally, I don't believe it is anybody's fault to seemingly have an ill-informed view of the ordinary goings-on of the CF.

Frankly, neither the military nor the media do a terrific job of disseminating or explaining the activities of Canadian soldiers to the public.

I feel that I must say that the term "Vigilant Guardian" as the name used for this exercise is, fortunately, merely coincidental. Appreciably, it has little or nothing to do with NORAD, the US Military, or 9/11. For instance, the series of annual exercises preceding were called "St...

Here are my thoughts on the spending priorities of this government.

A key initiative of the conservatives was to have every government contract to be tendered and bid upon by at least three competitors. Doing so, as had been reasoned, would prevent previous cases of favourit...

It's in Canada's constitution. Therefore, that is what Canada stands for. It just seems most people try to form a response to this familiar question with nothing other than their own ideas of what Canada should be rather than paying reference to the facts. Still, I can't imagine why anybody wo...

It's simple.

Unfortunately, you aren't correct. Part 2, Article 20: "In the territorial sea, submarines and other underwater vehicles are required to *navigate on the surface* and to show their flag." The photo suggests further that subs can merely surface, but can not navigate through surfac...

How do I know? It happens often. Things like foreign trawlers using mosquito mesh-like nets on Canadian fishing grounds and cargo ships dumping expended engine oil in or near Canadian waters occur all the time. The same goes for US subs, unless they've recently created an ice-breaking submarine I am...

...given this, I just happen to doubt that these foreign warships actually do obey the law.

That is what I'm trying to get across. As long as foriegn ships, including warships, intend to seek innocent passage through the Canadian arctic they may do so as long as they obey Canadian laws and regulations as obliged by the LOS. This includes remaining surfaced, maintaining a distance from the ...

In addition, if the US intends to claim the right of innocent passage through Canada's territorial waters they are obligated under the Law of the Sea to navigate on the surface and to show their flag.

All that really says is Malaysia and Indonesia insist the waters lay within their respective territories and they are anti-American because of this. You know this stance is completely wrong because a think-tank says it is. Other than that, they really don't provide any referrence materials (such ...
