I've seen many of these tests before, but none of them are adequate. The problem is you need to separate action from intent, purposes, or motivation. Just because two people may agree on action doesn't mean they have same motivations. It's also true the other way around - just because may have the s...

I don't understand these snap elections. I thought these calls for elections were supposed to be for other parties or the other party to hold the ruling parties or ruling party accountable. They are used by the ruling parties or party to hold power instead. That doesn't seem right. I also don't unde...

It's true that a lot of people claim to use Wikipedia just to get some "introductory information" or brouse for trivia. But I think the problem is that a lot of people never go beyond this stage. "Research" does not always mean a formal research paper. If someone's entire unders...

I prefer to use academic journals or books. They are much harder to read than Wikipedia, though.

However, Wikipedia is a fairly good place to find an introduction to certain topics-it's just the wrong place for anything in-depth, though.

You know, this is a bit off-topic, but this is the first time I've seen a conservative arguing against against another conservative.

There is little to no political integration happening. There is economic integration, but I have yet to see a spot on my ballot for my NAU Parliament member. Well, I can concur and concede to that point. Economic Integration is not necessarily political integration, or any other kind of integration...

So.... the Americans don't want integration, the Canadians don't want integration, the Mexicans don't want integration, and their respective governments don't want integration either. Yet it continues to happen. Why? Standards make life easier for everyone. However, it's more of necessity than deis...

It's been a while, so I might as make another post.

Quantum_Wizard's knowledge on ballot design for Condorcet Method has greatly alleviated my fears of Condorcet Voting. I believe I can support Condorcet voting... but I still believe it is harder for people to understand than IRV.

I wasn't suggesting the third parties would magically conquer the major parties. In fact, I've previously stipulated that voting process inherently takes a back seat to many other concerns. Still, to the extent that a voting system changes anything, runoffs certainly give a boost to third parties. ...

I know, I was imaging idealized voting systems to prove a point. Like disregarding the effects of wind resistance when studying parabolic trajectories. And I'm still using the term "moderate" as meaning "the guy the most people voted for" whether that vote is strategic or not. [...

Still, you're advocating honest voting over strategic voting. I haven't seen an argument for why honest voting is preferable. I see that they're different. A pure honest voting system would give third parties more of a chance, and a pure strategic voting system would focus on "frontrunners&quo...

Are honesty and strategy mutually exclusive? By the way, great response time! Absolutely not. They are not exclusive at all. My issue with FPTP, though, it that it severely punishes honest voting, while greatly encouraging tactical and strategic voting. Now, I have no problem with encouraging tacti...
