Do you ever read the poll results that ask basic history questions of adult Canadians? Like those done every year by the Dominion Institute? They show that WE are NOT doing a good job of educating our own people, about our own past. I notice that you skipped right past the part where I said that stu...

And for those out west who don't know about this....... Ignatief was " parachuted " into the Lakeshore/Toronto ryding, over a female Liberal candidate, who had all ready been endorsed by the ryding's Liberal Association members. This was done by the National Liberal Headquarters, with no r...

Mr Canada: I suggest that the problem is with the people who decide WHAT to teach, not those who actually teach it. The ones who make the decisions re the history material are mainly a product of our Universites and they tend to come out with a strong leftist attitude, both about our history and how...

I don't think that kind of information is conveyed by phone, it would be a personal visit by the local Police service, to tell her and to get support for her, family or neighbours and or social services staff. I know that here in Toronto, it is standard procedure to make sure that any " next of...

Yes there are SOME Canadians who don't like Canada. In many cases they haven't travelled outside of Canada, so they don't have a personal yardstick to measure with. They also tend to be of the left wing, politically and suffer from a stunted point of view when it comes to the best parts of being a C...

Uwish: I'd rather see money spent on military skills that will actually be usable in operations today. No body is going to be jumping into a location in the Sandbox, are they ? But we still are spending a lot of money to support a entire parchute training cadre and a school establishment staffand wh...

Good to see the squadron being "stood up " again. About a "airbourne squadron". I assume what the writer is really trying to say is a " parachute capability " in the CF infanrty units. Bearing in mind that the CF's last actual "combat jump" was in WW2, I think...

GUYS: Could we get back the main topic of this thread, please ? Support for the Canadian Army in Quebec has ALLWAYS been low, going all the way back to 1914. With the exception of 3 infantry battalions( about 4,00 men ) from Quebec, the Canadian Expeditionary Force was very much an "Anglo-Saxon...

I've been suggesting to many people on the "UK to Canada " immigration website that any single guy who has trades skills should be looking at northern Canada for at least the first 3 years to get a big cash bonus in his bank account. Working with little need to spend money, and making top ...

IceOwl: Other than Darcy Magee, a MP who was shot and killed outside his Ottawa boarding house, after a late night session of the House, can you tell us about another example of a Canadian political killing, at any time, up to the FLQ situation in 1970, when Pierre Laporte was killed ? I accept that...

A real life example of the huge divide between American and Canadian thought and ideals, would be the way in which the Government of Canada handled the influx of people headed to the gold fields in 1898. By requiring every person to have a year's worth of food and proper equipment, they saved many l...

I have to point out a few things......... Firstly the movie was MADE by Americans, and written by them, and had NO Canadian actors in the cast, that I could see. Secondly, the time period , when this film was made, in the early 1960's WAS a period of great expansion and development in Canada, with t...

How about this.......

The RCMP stops patrolling and answering calls for assistance in that place, for 60 days, and then see how the public feels about Police. Anarchy anyone ?

Wullu:

I'd make the distinction that MOST people born in Canada will be MORE informed about Canada than the guy who came here in 2003 and became a citizen last year. He will be counted in to the totals and cause the outcome to be skewed.

Shepard's Dog: I too enjoy the Marx Brothers, but they are a complete failure with today's youth who don't understand the pun, or a masterful play on words. Kids today need it to be VISUAL not VERBAL to get it. The Marx Brothers were also visual, but todays audience is not able to "get it "...
