Hello to the members from NFLD.
I am travelling there this summer in mid August.
I was there before in 1999 and travelled the west side of the island from Port Aux Basque to St. Anthony. Got to see the viking Settlement at L'anse aux Meadows.

I am travelling with my parents who were in St. Johns' back in 1978 for a weekend.

I have gotten a NFLD map and Travellers' Guide book. I want to see as much of NFLD as I can in 9 days (that is all the time I can get).

Any suggestions on places to go for scenic beauty. Also places to have moosemeat and accomidations that will not break the piggy bank would be good for four adults.

Thanks

ok do 9 days isn't a whole lot of time but i'm sure you'll have a lovely time.

so you did the west coast of the island in 99 does that mean you are doing the east side on this trip?

yes, I have never been east of Deerlake.

Any suggestions of places to visit on my way to St. John's?

Want to take "Scenic" areas as well as along the Trans-Canada Hwy.

Hell the whole route along the TCH is beautiful, but you might want to swing up Twillingate way because it is very nice up there.
The secondary roads that go out around the bay(any bay) twist and turn through small outports that are beautiful.
The inland is also covered in lush forests that go on forever.
Lots of brooks and hills and rock.

Twillingate is a nice drive. you'll want to head out to bonivista as well, its where John Cabbot landed, theres a replica of the matthew out there and some beautiful scenery. you can sit on the edge of the world and just watch the ocean for hours.

if you make it onto the avalon. The Irish Loop is a beautiful drive (i did it yesterday for the first time) also in st john's you need to go to cabot tower and cape spear (the most eastern point in north america)

feel free to msg me anytime if you want some help looking for rates for something :)

Gonna fly from Ontario and I'm thinking to Cape breton and ferring over then drive the trans Canada and fly back.
Whats some not to be missed places, and places to stay

I have finally made concrete plans for my trip to NFLD.

I will be taking the Port-aux-Basque ferry on the 12 of August, and will travel over the island until the 20th, when I take the Argentia ferry home!!!!

Was planning to go to St. Anthony and L'anse Meadows, but will cut that out to see more of the smallalong with other areas.
