GregEllis GregEllis:
In a topic I started in "American from Japan immigrating to Canada; relocation advise," a poster made this comment:

"You come off as an arrogant yank you think you’re an expert on Canada because you read a few books? Maybe you need some advice don’t tell other people how to run their country when you are here you should be feel privileged to be here."

Aside from the atrocious grammar (I excuse spelling mistakes on the Internet, but not grammar), I thought, "Hey, wouldn't this make a good topic of discussion in THIS forum.

So, do you think Americans have a right to an opinion on Canadian topics? And vice versa. Do Canadians have a right to an opinion on American opinions.

If you think no, then what do you think should be the place of Canadians in America and Americans in Canada? Pay your taxes and shutt the eff up? Or what?

Basically, I'm of the opinion that if you live in a country and pay taxes, you have the right to say what you want about it, good or bad. If you are from another country, then it's annoying. Just like Americans didn't care for letters from Britain telling them how to vote in 2004, I don't really care for Americans who live south of the border (or any other nationality for that matter) telling me how our country should be run. Generally I will listen to their opinion, but I reserve the right to tell them to piss off.

Kind of like I did in this thread;

http://www.canadaka.net/modules.php?nam ... c&start=45

The thing I find (I'm sure you will too) is that none of the Americans on this board that are such assholes that I ignore everything they say. For the most part, they're good people, despite ideological differences they and I might have.

And as for Clogeroo, go easy on the lad. First off, like someone already said, consider the source. Second off, he's only been here a few months and he's had a new one torn by about a dozen of us here (myself included). Welcome to the club!

I'd still like to see that homage to Jefferson Davis called the Peace Arch destroyed. It's like salt in the wound everytime I see it. Good thing there's the truck crossing... too bad it's going to be one lane for the next bit.

What's the Peace Arch at White Rock/Blaine have to do with Jeff Davis?

$1:
Clogeroo (whatever the hell that stupid handle means)
Go ef yourself little man. I'll do what I damn please and say whatever I damn well please, and you know what a little loser like you is going to do about it? Do you know? JACK SHIT. J-A-C-K-S-H-I-T. You'll stew and fester like you always do and then be the big man on forums like this to vent. And when you're done you'll go back to your wretched little life and stew some more. Like you stew about immigrants.

Thank god Canada is not the place YOU want it to be, where only native-borns have a right to an opinion. You white supremacist fascist. Maybe a Nazi flag should sit behind that goofball pi

You know nothing about me you think you do but you don't. Ill just say I know more than you think. But unlike you I'm not going to go around blabbing it to the world. I don't patronise you about the United States but for some reason you feel like patronising Canadians. It is just rude and arrogant to immigrate to a country and spout off things to the people there. Does not mean you can't but don't expect anyone to embrace it either.

$1:
The little know-nothing bigot deserves alot worse than name calling. Spout bigotry and you'll get a mouthful from me. This Clogeroo deserves a good ass-kicking by a group of Turkish female immigrants or something to put the final nail in the coffin of his seething self-doubt about his white manliness. Anyway, like I said. No more responses to his posts. Like in his real life, he will be invisible to me.

You seem more biggoted than me actually. Once again full of personal attacks.

$1:
Doesn't look like you were simply asking them to not speak badly about your country. Seems like you have an out and out dislike for sharing this country with Asian people.

Why should I like people who care nothing about my country? I'm not going to jump for joy to those who won't bother even learning our official languages or even try to use one, I'm not going to smile gladly at people who keep insulting European majority under their breath, I'm not going to cheer people on for not wanting to follow our laws or even show some respect to our traditions and the people who built and fought for this country. Your asking me to respect those who defy Canada and everything our forefathers worked to build. I'm not going too maybe some of you will but I won't. That is what my remarks are about people who come here and show know appreciation to my country or have any regard for what it has done and stands for.

Anyway GregEllis made a topic on here asking people what it was like where they lived and where he and his family should relocate too. I merely told him how it is here and what it is was like where I grew up. But then he felt the need to pretty much go on a personal vendetta against me. The same things he complains about the people did to him and his family in Japan I stated many of the people who come from countries like that do the same thing to the people here. If that is racist then either we are both racists or none of us are. He also feels the need to tell me what he knows about this country and apparently knows more than I do about Canada even though he made a topic asking people what it was like here. My advice is simple how many Canadians liked to be talked down by an American especially about their own country? I doubt very many. It would be different he had actually lived here for 10 or 20 years and was a citizen. Maybe then his ideas of this country and what it should be doing would have some actual clout. Oh and the name Clogeroo is from a song by Stompin Tom Connors. ;)

Oh we sailed away at the break of day to pull traps in oilskin trousers-
On the Susie Jack; but tonight we're back with a thousand pounds of lobsters-
Oh Shanty town we're gonna tear ya down we got the money comin out a me stockins
Tonight I'm due to bushwack Sue-and take'er to the gumboot clogeroo
And We'll do a little gumboot cloggin-do a little gumboot cloggin-do a little gumboot
cloggin-

It was donated by the daughters of the confederacy at the end of what they call the Jefferson Davis Highway.

According to your article, the UDC Jeff Davis monument was *next to* the Peace Arch and has since been removed. The Peace Arch itself has nothing to do with Jeff Davis.

But that was a fascinating article! US 99 (now California Route 99) passes through Sacramento and I had no idea about this part of its history. Thank you!

I looked at a few articles but have to admit to just skimming them for the information you requested. With all the new construction things might have changed but last I checked there was still a plack of donation from the DOC.

Americans have a right to have opinions on Canadian topics and Canadians have the right to pay attention to, ignore, or even taunt those opinions.

Same as we pay attention to, ignore, or taunt Canadian opinions about the USA.

If we want our opinions to matter (be they Canadian or US) then one must become a citizen of the nation they wish to influence so that they may vote - a vote being the only real statement of opinion that matters.

Maybe a Nazi flag should sit behind that goofball picture of you in your profile. It would explain the inferiority complex and fear of foreigners you have, though.

"I have no objection to people expressing their opinions on matters"
As the little fascist proceeds to tell me to shut the fuck up and do what I'm told because I should be even lucky to get in the country. Redneck. You know what, you little man, I've wasted enough time on you. You can't even rebut points sufficiently. Wretched little man. No more responses to your posts. It's no wonder you probably haven't risen very high in any sort of career. Lack of critical thinking skills, horrendous grammar and a bigot to boot. Good luck finding your place in the new economy.

A bit of an over the top reaction to somebody elses point of view. You need to tone it down a bit.

You are a visitor and new to the forum.

If this is how you mean to go on you will make few chums.

Nope, seems you're right. It was yanked in 02 or 03. I don't usually take that crossing. That frickin plack was one of the reasons. Now that I'm going to be forced that way, I'll take a walk about around the arch one of these days.

I'm glad it's gone. Obviously, it gets my blood pressure up.

Clogeroo was a bit "over the top" in initiating this.

Aside from the matter at hand, Greg is an accomplished ranter and I look forward to his next rant even if it is directed at me.

I skip the Blaine Peace Arch crossing any more and just cross at the truck crossing where there's usually no wait at all. The Aldergrove-Bellingham Hwy is usually pretty easy to cross at, too. It's a tad out of the way, but the Timmies up at 13 & the TransCanada is a cool excuse to go that way - then I get some Timmies for my friends in Custer.

Actually Bart I checked out the thread Greg started on coming back from Japan and I see why he got so 'anti' with clogeroo.

Very silly comments made by Clogeroo.
