Most of us know; as I stated just a few minutes ago, Yanks are pretty much the same as anyone else. The problem is that they are quite well brainwashed into believing the most absurd things. Yes, I would rather be a criminal than be brainwashed.

In my work day I deal only with Yanks; from the broadest spectrum one could imagine. They are just folks, from the guy who calls himself "the biggist 9/11 lawyer in Ney York city" to the crackers whose accents I can hardly understand to... etc. etc. BUT!!!! If the right subjects were to come up I know they all would spew out a gush of crap that would make the major effluvia portal of any city smell like a puff of perfume.

The horrible thing here is that the people of this forum, and for a while the average Joe on the streets of Anywhere Canada, were willing to accept the Yank brainwashing as part of their heritage, no doubt due to the amount of propaganda sucked up along with their daily dosages of prime time tv. Thankfully we seem to be coming to our senses as a country. You see, the people of Afghanistan and the people of Iraq are no different. The people of Somalia are the same too, and not 'targets' as some of us seemed to forget for a while too. The folks of Beograd are the same as the people of Toronto, and it sure looks like we got sucked into backing the wrong horse in that fracas over there.

Anyway, it looks like public opinion is swinging toward reality and the crackpots, here and in the newspapers, are beginning to stand out in the way that they should.

To those of you who still want to call people from other countries nasty names and send our cousins and brothers to irritate them until they get sent home in coffins; You need another 45 or 50 pounds of tinfoil in your helmets. Oh yeah. You need to wear 7 pairs of sunglasses and welding gloves while using your computers to avoid the deadly pu waves.

I think this thread tells a lot about us as a country and a people. I find it hard to believe that anyone, regardless of how left wing they are, believes that any foreigner should be denied a right to an opinion of Canada. I mean Canada seeks world approval like AVRO seeks attention on CKA. For example, we shape polices to enhance our UN image, sign economically destructive environmental accords and sell-out our citizens to global PC at every opportunity. If this thread were entitled "Do Somalians have a right to an opinion on Canadian topics" I doubt it would have gone past five posts. Similarly, I doubt Rick Mercier would be as popular if he conducted his interviews with Pakistanis or Croatians or Carolyn Parrish would be dragged before a human rights tribunal if she were attacking Robert Mugabe.

Read into this what you want DerbyX and all the rest who think I am anti-Canadian, but I don't believe that we should be trying to define our nationhood by what we are not in relation to America, but rather what we are in relation to each other. What bothers me more than anything else is the viciousness with which some Canadians make statements about America. Okay, we're not perfect, and it's okay to have an opinion. But I see some pure hate in some of the insults, and rhetorical one-liners that don't even contain any truth. I don't know anyone personally that hates Canada, but most of the derrogatory statements are made in defense against Canadian Anti-Americanism. I think that's why we became a super power, to try and stop the tyranny against innocent people. I'm sure most Canadians support that basic philosophy.

Having an opinion on someone else's business and and telling someone how to deal with their business are two different things, though.

That being said, we're currently involved in "telling" others how to run their country... they're also "telling" us to fuck off, but I doubt you'd agree that they're "entitled" to do so.
