This came up in the socialist vs capitalist thread, people keep telling me that I'm brainwashed by Fox news or that I shouldn't listen to their bullshit, but the truth is....I've never in my life seen Fox news, my local cable doesn't carry it and it never will. To my knowledge the only way for Canadians to see Fox news is on youtube or on satellite.

So, do you watch it? have you even seen it besides some O'Reily clips on youtube?
what do you think of it? is it fair and balanced?

I understand this will most likely become a flamefest so please guys, let's keep it civil and honest.

don't fuck up the poll....and don't fuck it up just cause I said not to fuck it up....please.

I've got this accusation before as well... due to my arguments on certain topics, I'm obviously "brainwashed" from watching too much Fox News.

Nevermind the fact that I don't watch Fox News on television, much less any news on television - I don't even own a televison!

It's an feeble, presumptuous jab that always amuses me.

That being said, Fox is offered in cable packages here... is Fox News a seperate broadcast?

I have said on here several times in the past that it never surprizes me how many Canadian lefties slag Fox News off when they do not subscribe to it and hence, never watch it.

This is called "Fox derangement syndrome" by Bernie Goldberg in his best selling book "Crazies to the left of me, Wimps to the right", a good read btw.

I watch it regularly and find it very informative.

What is particularly good about it that you don't see in Canada or even hear on the radio in Canada, is that on most regular shows on Fox News, there is always a guest representing the right and a guest representing the left on most discussion topics.

This is sorely lacking in Canada.

Fox News...

Oh, I hate it.

My mother used to live with her boyfriend, who stole American Satellite (It's the Canadian Waaaay!) and... well... I didn't know any American television. I like the news. No CBC... Damnit...

"Fox News" rolls around. I click on that.

I Regret Watching it.

I'm glad I'm watching Canadian Cable again.

Ahhh, good ol' CBC.... How could I abandon you so?

All news has bias. CBC has bias.

CTV has bias. NBC has bias. Everything is biased.

But something are really biased...

I think Fox News is an all-news channel, like CBC Newsworld.

I don't get it, and even if it was available, I wouldn't want it, simply based on the arrogant pricks they have on it (O' Reilly et al).

You can get it on satellite or on digital cable. The few times I've watched it was during the last time I was in the US.

All issues of bias aside for the moment, I didn't care for it. For starters, with all the tickers, and moving icons and flags and what not, I found it very distracting visually.

But as for the bias, it is incredibly biased. There's a great many places online you can go to to see evidence of this. (Here's one such site)

I think a lot of people's problem with Fox's bias is that the bias is more partisan than anything else. If FNC was more like the Economist or something similarly conservative (and not the neo-conservatism you see on FOX) then, it would be much more palatable to more people.

But instead, the channel goes out of its way to slag the Democratic party as often and as viciously as possible. The regular pundits and anchors you see are virtually all from the right-wing radio and punditry network (for example: Ann Coulter, Laura Ingrahm, Bernard Golberg, et al.)

Ok, for the questions about how do I get FOX News Channel (FNC)?

Due to our lefties in Canada, the CRTC (the regulator of Canadian television) has kept the media outlet FNC out of Canada till 2004.

Global>, a Canadian television which has a great relationship with the FOX network in the United States was going to create a channel called "FOX News Canada", but they backed out at the last minute when News Corp. (the parent owner of FNC) had stipulations that all Canwest Global owned newspapers and the newscast, Global National with Kevin Newman, had to be incorporated with FOX News Canada.

Global backed out.

In 2004 the CRTC awarded FOX News Channel a DIGITAL license.

Therefore the FOX News Channel is available on Star Choice, Bell ExpressVu, and digital cable from almost every cable company that provides digital.

The Channel is the #1 cable news channel in the United States raking in more viewers then CNN, CNN Headline News, and MSNBC combined. The channel also holds the #1 cable news show in the United States called The O'Reilly Factor.

FOX News Channel also holds pretty much almost the entire top 10 cable news channels with:

The O'Reilly Factor
Hannity & Colmes
On the Record with Greta van Susteren
The FOX Report with Shepard Smith
Hannity's America (Sunday Special)
FOX News Morning Live
Your World with Niel Cavuto

The only other entries from the other networks are:

Larry King Live
Anderson Cooper 360

During the State of the Union, the FOX News Channel actually raked in more viewers than the broadcast networks with over 7.5 million.

The channel is pointed out to have Republican, and Conservative bias.

Others point out that it gives a fair shot to the Republican and Conservative viewpoint in America and also point to the Liberal media that dominates the other media outlets in America and FNC "filling the void"

Also the controversial Bill O'Reilly is against the death penalty making that a surprise to many skeptics that point fingers at him.

Fair & Balanced is seen as a fair description because it offers a fair analysis of the Republican/Conservative view point along with a Democratic and Liberal view point with such commentators as Kristen Powers and Allan Comes.

I can get fox news but I don't watch it, any news I watch on television is Global.

But is is nice to know that if I wanted to watch news i'd have more choices than the tax gobbling Commie Broadcasting Company.

i found it so laughable that at the same time that the fight was on to keep Fox out of Canada the liberal left applauded the airing of t Al Jazeera ??

They should privatize the CBC anyway and free up a billion or so tax dollars.

I hate seeing a billion dollars worth of Canadian taxpayers money sunk into what effectively is a liberal propaganda machine.

Thank god for Don Cherry he is absolutely the CBC's only saving grace.
