It's getting clearer and clearer to me every day that if you don't allow the U.S. government to "protect you", they will do it anyway. I like the people that I've met in the States. So far, every single one of you. I don't like your system. I have a right to say so, because your policies are intrusive to my life. I don't want your protection. I don't want to die that way. If I have to choose, I will stand with the 49%. Don't let your government fire in our airspace against our will. Thank you.

I agree with most of your post, BlackIvy2. Like you, I don't like the US system. But, I don't like all Americans. I like most of them, however there are a few I want nothing to do with. Top of that list is GW Bush.

Stay on this forum long enough and you're liable to meet some Americans you won't like, BlackIvy2.

Fortunately, you'll also meet some good Americans.

And don't worry about ballistic missiles falling on Canada because there won't be any ballistic missiles launched at the US. If ever some "rogue nation" decides to nuke the US it will be with some kind of cruise missile or with a bomb smuggled into the US.

Hopefully GWB will realise this before it is too late!

In my opinion, the whole anti-missle thing is so that the US can "one up" any developed nation that might pose a threat to it, whether it be China, Russia, or whatever, I think it's mainly incase of future conflicts with a nation that can do some real damage. All in all though, I think it's unlikely that nations with nukes will attack the US, I mainly think they could be ended up being used for offense(given our governments record)and that they are a waste of money.

And this is a long shot, but there may be some overlap in technology between a balistic defence system and a space rock defence plan. However, i have not personally met an American that i havn't liked. As far as American members here go, some i don't mind. As a matter of fact, i cannot think of any that i haven't agree with at some point.

Back on topic, the shield sounds like a really big and complicated defence system that likely will not work and will have billions more invested into it before it is decided to cancel the program. I do not really want it because what nation will nuke Canada with an ICBM? If America wants it, so be it, but i do not want to help to pay for it

BlackIvy2... What a lovely name! Allow me to bite on this one... as devil's advocate.

It may be your airspace, however it's America's security space. We Americans are real security nuts. When we Americans flew our B-52's on practice runs towards Russia, do you think we flew around Canada? Where do you think we tested our cruise missiles?

You Canadian Hobbits can afford to lay back and be passive simply because someone else is protecting your fanny whether you want it or not. You don't need a military to protect your markets, because we are your market. It's indisputable that Canada and America are inextricably intertwined in our affairs. So, you think you can beg off when the going gets tough?

America made a big mistake in starting the nuke race, but now we're stuck with it. Now that third world nations, who can't even begin to feed their people, can crank out nukes, we have no choice but to throw up some defences.

How about promoting some peace? Maybe, some of you Canadians could convince your North Korean friends cut the crap and live in peace and let them know that Stalin died fifty years ago and it's time to end all of this silly stuff.

While visiting Alaska, I noticed several Canadian Coast Guard ships docked in our port. Didn't bother me at all. Always happy to see my friends.

Ruxpercnd, You are pretty high on yourself my friend. I realize your accomplishments as a country. You should be proud of many of them. But us hobbits don't need your protection. You should watch the C.B.C. sometime. Because of the war of 1812, I live in CANADA. My son is a direct decendent of Tecumseh, A great war Chief. Most of the things I buy come from CHINA , although American products. CHINA is the largest market, and growing. You are #2. I don't like it but North Korea, in my opinion is playing the only card they have. What would you do? Canada in many ways has much more power than the U.S. For the most part my government tolerates other countries that have alternative viewpoints. That goes a long way in negotiations. My government doesn't yet have a world order agenda to put put power into the hands of the few. Also a plus with the rest of the world. I can still renounce unjust war. The power of the pen is still mightier than the sword over here. I try to help somebody every day, so I'm gonna try and help you. Say three times slowly "This world is for everyone"

1st paragraph. Please define "secruity space" never heard of that one. Probably another one of your dumbass definitions to defend yourselves from poltergeists. And yes, I do believe you did fly around Canada, sooooo point being????

2nd paragraph. Another dumbass American saying "we defend you" im not even going to comment on that because I believe in recycling....meaning recycling stupid comments like that.

3rd paragraph. Whose fault is that? Yours or Canadas??? Im leaning towards you so you have to pay the price....Hope these terrorists dont mistake us as being Americans and hit us instead of you. And you my friend have proved nothing other then your Yank mind.

4th paragraph. You need help. Other then History lessons. Good god.

5th paragraph. Yah, how bout those American ships in port in Canada...... POINT BEING.....

Thank God we didn't sign on to BMD! I'm very glad that Canada has chosen to "beg off" now that the going has gotten "tough".

I think one big reason we don't have a bigger military is that, unlike the US, we don't feel threatened by any other nations. In fact, the only nation that could even faintly be considered a threat to Canada is....the US!! The Bushites have stated that they will not hesitate to shoot at incoming missiles even if the debris lands on Canadian cities. Do "friends" talk like this?

Luckily, Canada has an opportunity to lessen its dependence on trade with the US over the next few decades. As BlackIvy2 mentioned, other countries are on the rise, and Canadian trade with them is growing. Eventually they will become economic powers to rival the US. Even American business leaders are beginning to realise this.

UofSaskatchewan - Ouch! That was my first flame attempt, I wasn't just trying to push your buttons though, but trying to lay out some facts.

Oh yes... our security space. What I was trying to get at is that American B-52's always flew over Canada, not around (the French preference). I am sorry to say but we would never allow anything to happen over Canada that would threaten us. When bullets fly the rules are suspended, we'll sort it out later. Remember, we're friends.

Yes, we defend you, if you don't believe nations attack each other, then keep reading your history. If the Soviet Union had decided to make the Artic Sea a Russian lake by taking some of Canada, there is no way you could have stopped them. We could have taken some more Canadian territory back when some of our hotheads were screaming "54-40 or Fight!". but we submitted to arbitration like gentlemen, which is why you now speak Canadian.

Actually, nukes would be around even if America didn't go first. What is insane is that we produced so many of them - fear run wild!

Canada has opted out of a defence system, which means you won't be part of the discussion when the fur flies. Remember, what goes up, all comes down.

Hey! We are having a shortage of diesel fuel because you Canadians can't keep your rusty oil refinery running.

I'm 100% with Prime Minister Paul Martin.

So the USA says that they will use our Airspace without Canada’s Permission
(So I guess it was ok for the Planes to hit the trade Towers without the Permission of the USA) well that’s what the USA is trying to say right?

All I got to say is F the USA.
They are just making it harder for other nations to be there friends.
I just can’t wait till all the nations come together and KISK some USA ASS.
This day seems like its coming soon. Wish the soon part would be today or tomorrow.

I’m calling on all World leaders to tell the USA to give up World power and if they don’t give up world power then Start War with them just like the USA did to IRAQ

Canada don’t need missile defense no one hates us that’s Canadians. That’s why you don’t see the CN Tower taken down by planes. But you did see the world trade towers get hit. Why is that you say?? Well because the USA tries to run the world and no one likes that and that’s why 9/11 happened. If the USA changed there policies then everyone would be ok but since the USA are Retards/Morons this will never happen.

I’M 100% PROUD TO BE A CANADIAN

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

...okaaaaay.... That was a little harsh! :|

In case no one noticed, Rux mentioned that he was going to play "devil's advocate", which I think means that he was going to try to stimulate some debate by being provocative. I have no problem with that. The gist of his posts at CKA seems to be that Canadian and American interests are closely linked and that the two countries should cooperate more closely in matters of security and trade.

Although I disagree with this, it's an opinion which I think is legitimate and worthy of respect. Rux has said that he likes Canadians and so far I haven't seen any reason not to give him the benefit of the doubt, even though sometimes he expresses himself somewhat clumsily.

We speak Canadian because you in the USA let us? Shades of Ann Coulter.

Pretty arrogant aren't you?

When are you going to learn to live and let live? Mind your own business? Keep your noses out of other's domestic affairs? Those who live by the sword die by the sword.

Your many manipulations will come back to bite you on the ass. But it will be someone else's fault yes?

You think you got it all figured out ? ... Well think again. What goes around comes around.

I think I give up being Devil's Advocate... I'm just a simple country boy who grew up riding horses and feeding chickens. I've known many Canadians, all nice folks.

Don't blame you for feeling antsy about world conflict. Present some good arguments and the American People will listen, I promise.

President Bush is a little misguided and of course is personally arrogant. The American people know this and elected him anyway, go figure. Four years and that's over. Who would you like as our next president?

So probably the Japanese will easily develop nukes to offset the N. Koreans. I figure Pakistan and India will be the first to nuke each other. Thank goodness, that's far away from Canada!
