Why do you think Russia is more powerful than the states? China is a given since they own a lot of USA's debt. I also have the feeling you couldnt stomach our nation being a major world power.

Simple question. YES!
USA's army is superb but nonetheless this is NOT the only reason;
USA downfall will not happen until the country itself ADMITS it.
Which means that the US economy is spread ALL OVER THE WORLD, so if USA falls, a major part of the world falls too, including Europe.

When the US banks went bankrupt, it only took a couple of weeks until many banks all over the world followed their faith. And when it comes to powerful, well...USA basicually holds all of the desicions in its hand. USA controls UN, the world wide economy and hell even charity organisations. And there are lots of other important factors. Consequently one should keep in mind that the american government has influence strong enough to do whatever they want.

I dont think the US controls the UN one bit, if they did then the UN would support most of what the US does, which is not the case at all.

It controls it in the sense that it provides a large chunk of the funding...25% or something like that. Just saying...

The US is supposed to be clawing back quite a bit of funding from the UN in the next few years.
