Canadaka Canadaka:
raydan raydan:
Are you just changing the home page, Canadaka?

I think so, its the only page that needs the extra space.

I'm working on a new homepage layout here http://www.canadaka.net/home_test
not done yet

Really very nice Trev, but I still think you should find room to show the NHL game scores there somewhere, I mentioned adding this before the season started, and now it's more than half over...

I added the NHL Scores block again, had to fix it.

The new homepage layout is also now live, I'll probably still keep tweaking it. But the new wider layout has a bunch of new content.

the forum block now has 2 tabs with more info. The default is once again the newest topics posted too.

There is also a tabbed block showing the most recent news comments, and the most active news discussions.

I also have a 2 tabbed block bringing in some content from http://politwitter.ca/ along with a block showing blog posts from www.bloggingcanadians.ca/

I also added a video block again and a new "Facebook Activity" block.

I will be adding Facebook "like" buttons around the site, so this new block will show what people are liking on the site.

If you have any suggestions, let me know!

Looks good. My only complaint is that the homepage is right of centre now. Makes it feel very off balance. Maybe eliminate the left margin with the half leaf for those people who have normal screen resolutions?

the page is exactly centered excluding the maple leaf shield, which won't cause your browser to have a horizontal scrollbar, its a background image.

The margin on either side of the main content box is the same.

The tab is not centered on my screen. And the whole image won't fit, because i have my text set to 150% in control panel. But no biggie, I only look at the headlines anyway.

Here is what I got. Dunno if it is because I am using Safari or what...

Image

It just feels like there should be a border on the left hand side. Can't remember if there was before or not, but it seems off now.

WHOA there is all kinds of shit messed up in that screenshot!

Have the new slink titles not been left justified all the time for you? Same with the block tabs on the right?

I have Safari 5.0.3 (newest) installed for testing on Windows and everything looks fine on mine... What version of safari are you running?

I don't have a Macincrapple to test on, i assumed Safari would render the same on windows & mac.

PS. you should use Chrome, much better than Safari :P

Hmm... version 4.04. And it wont let me update it either. Oh well.

I might switch to Chrome. But first I am still trying to learn all the nuances of the Mac before moving on to tinkering with browsers and the like. I grew up on PCs and know them in and out, but already I like the Mac way more than any of my old laptops. Only computer that gets more praise then the Mac was my old desktop from Dell. That thing lived 10 years and now is in use by my brother as a server.

well i found a download for Safari 4.04 and installed it, everything looks fine.

So its either the fact its running on Mac, or you have some other setting doing wonky things.

I've tested the site on IE9, IE8, Firefox, Chrome, Safari & Opera and it all is centered and looks the same.
