MaineUSAGuy MaineUSAGuy: Of course there is bigotry in Canada everywhere in the world in fact. Here´s an excerpt from an article about Sheila Copps, a Canadian politician: "Sheila Copps, the Canadian heritage minister, has an outstanding sense of timing. While Americans are still in the healing process after the Sept. 11 tragedy, Copps has seen fit to announce that the American nation has no heroes. In a mind-boggling statement uttered last week, Copps asserted that Americans are "hungry for role models" and that they have no choice but to resort to Hollywood to find their heroes. With great self-satisfaction, Copps boasted, "When we created Canada, we didn't need a revolution — we had an evolution." In spewing this historical ignorance and ugly bigotry, Copps clearly prides herself on the fact that, in 1776, Canadians didn’t have the backbone to stand up for themselves against British economic exploitation."

Nobody pays much heed to that cow. As for your take on the revolution...maybe you(the historical collective you) should have paid for your share of the defence bill. It was the Royal Navy and the British Army that defended American colonists, traders, farmers and merchants, from the French and their native allies. Instead, the bill was paid by taxpayers who didn't even live in the colonies...as well as the cost for defending Britain and its other possessions. If anything, American colonists were given preferential treatment by the government, rather than being 'exploited'.

In 1776 there were a few score thousand living in Canada. They were British and French and they had nothing to stand up against other than the expansionist aims of America.
The population increased somewhat just after that as many proud British citizens managed to escape the tyranny of the revolution and make it to Canada.

The first problem with this whole argument is that Canada is not “my country” our “your country” – it is “OUR COUNTRY”. If I want to wear a veil and shop for Kosher food and speak my native language in public (French, English, Arabic, Hebrew, Cree, Spanish, Somoli...whatever) then that is our right. So get over it, it is not “your country” and you do not get to dictate how any one lives or what language they speak or what food they want to sell as long as they obey the law.
The second problem is you guys are pointing out the rare cases of immigrants in legal trouble and casting their mistakes as mistakes perpetrated by all people who look or speak unlike you. I hire immigrants because they are hard working, willing to work endless hours, and take pride in making me look like a fucking genius. I have met some bad eggs but to tell you the truth, the druggies and the fraudsters and the lazy bastards are 95% WHITE. I have yet to have a coloured fellow call me from jail, I have yet to have the police stop at my business looking for one of my non-english speaking workers.
I have been ripped off by a few white fellows, I have had white guys fake injury to take the summer off, I have had white guys call from jail cause they were doing something stupid. I regularly, especially on paydays and the day after and the Monday after, have white guys call in “sick” or suddenly have appointments and so forth.
Give me brown guys straight off the boat from almost anywhere and if I’m hiring I’ll definitely consider him. Give me the identical white guy who graduated three years ago and has had 15 jobs in those three years and promises to learn our trade and stick it out...I’m going to take the brown guy every single time. Many, many of our white children lack work ethic, and it is rare to have white folk who do have that great work ethic looking for work.
Our white kids today are spoiled, and white Canadians have the impression that Canada belongs to them and they get to dictate how people will act in their country and that they are entitled to do whatever they want or don't want to do. The sad reality is that these immigrants will come, work harder and have better lives than our kids, because they have that work ethic. And I think that scares the shit out of alot of you. You’re next neighbour might be from the Congo and have a nice car and hard working kids who do well in school and get scholarships and save their money and send some of it home...
If you feel threatened by those type of people, i.e. thoughts that maybe their doing something illegal or that their practicing female circumcision or voo-doo in their homes, instead of making boundaries between you and your Canadian neighbours – go meet them, invite them over, have a BBQ and drink some beers with them on your patio and you’ll see that they generally have the same aspirations as us white people. They want to be happy, they want their kids and families to be happy, and they are willing to do anything to reach their goals. It’s too bad that we are all too willing to lash out at a perceived enemy than to make ourselves better people.
I’m all for immigration. I’m not scared and nor do I care that the proportion of new Canadians is high. If Muhammad wants to pray on his breaks – if he wants to wear a turban, if he wants to bring his mom and his dad from Pakistan, I’m going to help him achieve all that. Why? Cause he works hard and he has good moral characteristics that I look for in an employee. Someday there may be as many mosques as churches in my city. And that is fine with me because I don't really care who I do business with. I can’t say that the Catholic Church has done a whole bunch lately to make me reflect on their relevance and what they think God wants me to do. Does God want me to touch little boys, or abuse natives, or oppose a woman’s choices? I don't think so.
Instead of opposing immigration maybe we should look inside ourselves as Canadians and figure out what is missing in our present society that we need these people to serve fast-food or make beds in our hotels or look after our children. If we had enough people willing to do these menial tasks for next to nothing (min wage at my shop is generally $12.00) then there would be no need for immigration.
But we raise our kids to “be what ever they want to be” and they go out into the world and want to be CEO’s and presidents and make $200K a year and live easy happy lives – and that is not realistic. We should stop pampering our children and let them know that the smartest, the most ingenious, the hardest working folks are the ones that are going to be rich and happy. And the sad fact is that some of them should be working at McDink’s or Timmy Ho’s because they have no other reasonable skills. If you choose to coast through school with straight 60’s then don't expect to be CEO (that being said I got straight 60’s but I started my own business) so you better be an entrepreneur or win the lottery cause you might get an oil job or a union steel job but either way it’s a long life of hard work if you want to succeed.
My take is that most people who blame immigration on all their woes are the same people who’s mommy said you can be president or an astronaut while breast feeding till 4 or 5. Immigration is not the problem, you are the problem.
It’s not an issue for me because I work 50 hours a week, my happiness is only dependant on me, my woman and our kids and our abilities to achieve our goals, and we make a shitload of money (comparatively) and it seems to get better and better every year.
In short, I look after me, I work hard, and I have nothing to fear from the boatloads of people coming to this country who want to work hard and make their lives better, just like me.
If you fix you then immigration at any level will never be an issue.

The above post is racist against whites and if you follow the argument, if enough people in Canada want Sharia law it should happen, since it's "our country."

I have found no real disparity between any of the colours.
I have found that those born inside Canada (the western world) tend to want more for less than those born outside of Canada (the western world).

andyt andyt: The above post is racist against whites and if you follow the argument, if enough people in Canada want Sharia law it should happen, since it's "our country." It’s only racist against whites if for some reason you feel superior or inferior to people of other colours. I'm white, I work hard and I'm sick of other white folk who think for some reason they own the right to say Canada is theirs and dictate to the rest of us what religion we can practice and what language we can speak and what thoughts we can have in our heads (I'm thinking bad thoughts right now ). I have no problems with any person of any race or background or sexual orientation until they start to try stuff their moral superiority in my anus. And the only people stuffing moral superiority around here are the scared white folk who think the darkies and the chinks and the negros and the NJns are here to do anything other than have a good life and work hard like the rest of us. I don't need people to speak anglais or francias or pray to my god or follow my forefather's great white footsteps. I like when the guys bring goat fried rice to work. I like it when our employees feel comfortable enjoying our company christmas party even though they are Muslim. It does not bother me when they take a month off eating or drinking during the daylight for Ramadan and we don't put pictures of their deities in the men’s room just to aggravate them and make them feel unwelcome. I don't give a rat’s ass if they assimilate or not. I do care that they are good people, work hard and feel like they contribute to our workplace. That is what counts. Who cares about the rest - why be so petty? And ya, if enough people in Canada want anything, then our democratic process should be put to work.

Instead of lashing out maybe just try to be a better person..'cause I don't see you defending the rest of the Chinese after someone posted about the lottery scammers (are all the Chinese crooks????). But say one bad thing about white people and you scream like a little shitty baby. Hypocrite much?

Argumentum ad hominem is for those of us who cannot process logic well and present any rational argument for or against a point of view.
Translation: Screaming like a shitty baby does you no good. Try capturing something you disagree with and construct a reasonable argument to present to us. Personal attacks might make you feel like you've been constructive, but they generally just show your ignorance.
Please don't attribute quotes to me that I did not write. Purposely misquoting someone to influence your argument is unethical and disgusting.
