What? A Hollywood movie wasn't completely accurate? Impossible!

Seems mister Afleck is 0 for 2 when it comes to historical accuracy. [cheer]

I personally can't see the need to dress up or hollwoodize something as dramatic and important as the Iranian hostage rescue.

Maybe that's why I'll watch a documentary over a "historical" feature film anytime. History and historical accuracy is important to me, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences not so much.

I didn't realize it was supposed to be a factually correct documentary.

When you sell the movie by saying "based on actual events" one should expect historical accuracy with only a modicum of dramatic licence for dramatic effect. Otherwise it should be classified as fiction.

It IS based on actual events.
If you expect historical accuracy or any accuracy for that matter, you should watch a documentary.

Anybody who watches a Hollywood movie and thinks he's getting the truth is an idiot. :D

Exactly and how many people think Braveheart was an true depiction? As an Englishman I can tell you. Far too many.

Just wondering why, every time we get a new "fairly current events" movie, someone has to come out and say that it wasn't accurate.

And that's why they make documentaries. Just so people who actually want the truth about history can skip the American Propaganda machine.

Because they aren't even close to the truth. Afleck has gotten 2 opinions from people who were there while he was in grade school and yet some people will continue to believe his version is the truth.

All they have to do is stop using the "Based on actual events" tags and say it's a work of fiction derived from a historical event. A little more honest than the other way.
